York City Knights have strengthened their back line options for the League 1 Super 8s split with the signing of outside-back Jake Butler-Fleming on loan for the rest of the season.

The 25-year-old, a former Penrith Panthers junior, was signed by Tim Sheens for Hull KR and has played nine times this season, scoring five tries.

York boss James Ford said: “Hull KR hold him in high regard, however he has been made available to us for our Super 8s campaign and I’m delighted to have him on board.

“He has been involved in a few of our training sessions already this year and I was happy with how he fitted in. I’m looking forward to seeing him play.

“As well as the training and culture we provide at the Knights, our supporters also make a huge difference. Their incredible backing is a big factor in attracting players to our club.

“I would like to thank Tim and Hull KR for allowing Jake to join us for the Super 8s.”

Hull KR head coach Tim Sheens added: “This is an opportunity for Jake to get a regular run of matches under his belt from now until the end of the season.

“With the likes of Justin Carney, Thomas Minns and Andrew Heffernan all due back in the side over the coming weeks, we weren’t in a position to guarantee the amount of game time that Jake needs over the next few months.

“I’ve spoken to him personally and he’s fully understanding of the situation and is looking forward to making an impact with York.

“The Knights have got a lot to play for themselves until the end of the season and this also gives them some consistency in terms of selection because they’ve been a very good partner for us this year.”
