Wide man Richards has a glittering Rugby League C.V dating back to his days with The Parramatta Eels in 2000. Richards played in a total of 37 games for the Eels racking up a tally of 14 tries. Pat helped the Sydney club to the NRL Grand Final in 2001 but missed the game courtesy of a broken leg.
In 2003 Richards signed for another Sydney club, joining the West Tigers. Richards made up for his 2001 Grand Final Heartache by winning the 2005 Premiership with the Tigers-scoring 20 tries that year he set a club record.
Richards swapped the NRL for Super League when he signed for the Warriors in 2006. Coach at the time Ian Milward played Richards in the unfamiliar centre position, but he adapted well scoring 12 tries and kicking 12 goals in 24 appearances.
Pat was back where he belonged in 2007 and cemented his position on the Warriors wing and also took the role of leading goal kicker. Richards relished in his new found responsibility and in 27 appearances he scored 14 tries and kicked 104 goals for the cherry and whites.
Richards was to have to adapt yet again when mid way through the 2007 season he was switched to full back.
In 2008 he was Super Leagues top points scorer with a total of 375 points-an award he had retained from the previous year. In 2009 he made it a hatrick of top points scorer awards.
Richards continued to break records and in 2010 picked up the prestigious Man Of Steel Award. The total of 464 points Richards registered in 2010 not only sealed Top Points Scorer for another year running but also set a new Wigan Club record for an Aussie
Representing Ireland at international level, Richards is one of the games finest over-seas talents although his Irish EU passport means he does not count towards the Warriors foreign player quota.
Richards is a threat with both his hands and his feet, and is comfortable at centre, out wide or at full back making him one of the most talented and versatile players in the business.
To date Richards has notched up 1534 points for the Warriors, thanks to his excellent kicking ratio and his eye for a try.
