Profile
In 2008 Amor was playing amateur rugby with Hensingham RLFC in Whithaven. The following year he signed up to play professional, full time rugby in the Championship with Whitehaven at the age of 22. Amor impressed with the Cumbria club and was awarded Player of the Month for May. In July 2009 it was announced that Leeds Rhinos had beaten off competition from other Super League clubs, including Huddersfield, to sign Amor for the 2010 season on a 3 and a half year contract. Leeds and Whitehaven upheld a dual contract for Amor and during the 2010 season he played 3 senior games for Leeds Rhinos as well as appearing for the academy side and playing for Whitehaven.
At the start of the 2011 season, Amor was sent to Wakefield on an initial month’s loan. He made his debut for the club in round three against Salford City Reds. The loan deal was extended for a further month then again for the remainder of the season. Amor scored a try in his fourth appearance for Wakefield in their 20-6 away win at Hull FC. He played 25 games for Wildcats during the 2011 season scoring tries against Hull KR, Hull FC and eventual league leaders Warrington Wolves. He also scored against the club who had sent him out on loan in Wakefield’s 64-20 defeat to Leeds on September 3rd.
On October 3rd 2011 it was announced that Wakefield had signed Amor on a permanent 3 year deal. In a unique arrangement Leeds have the option to sign Amor back after one year at the Wildcats. The Rhinos must notify Wakefield by July 2012 if they wish Amor to return to them for the second and third years of the contract.
Amor was selected to represent Ireland in the 2011 Autumn Internationals and started in the October 16th defeat to Scotland at the Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow.
He was also selected to play for Cumbria against England in October 2011 in a memorial match for former Wakefield player Gary Purdham who was killed in 2010.
Amor was awarded the Members’ Player of the Year award for 2011 at the Wakefield team awards ceremony.
