  Dale Morton started his rugby league career with Yorkshire club Knottingley Rockware from the age of 13. He was spotted playing at a young age by former Knottingley Rockware now Bradford Bulls Hooker Wayne Godwin. He has also made appearances for Wakefield Service Area And Yorkshire at Under 14 & 15\\\'s Level. Morton was on a scholarship contract with the Castleford Tigers until Wakefield Trinity Wildcats offered him a contract with the academy at the age of 16. While playing for Knottingley Rockware he helped to win the Castleford & District Cup in 2005 where he was spotted by then Wakefield Coach John Kear. Morton made his first team debut in the Wildcats’ 30-24 win away to Salford City Reds in round 23 of the 2009 season.  He then played, and scored, in a 40-28 win away at Warrington Wolves. He appeared once more for the first team against Salford City Reds before the end of the season. In 2010, he played 13 games for the club scoring four tries including two in the 28-20 win over Catalan Dragons in round one. He made a further nine first team appaearances during the 2011 season and scored tries against Crusaders and Harlequins.
