Anderson played for East Coast Bay and Mount Albert Lions before being signed by New Zealand Warriors. Anderson debuted for the Warriors in 2002 against the Cronulla Sharks. The same year they went onto the NRL Grand Final, where they were beaten. In 2003, he played centre as they fell one victory short of a consecutive final appearance. Before departing in the 2005 NRL season, Anderson had built a reputation for tough tackling and good ball skills.
He signed for St Helens in 2005, after the RFL refused to register him as a London Broncos player because of their finical problems. Anderson fitted well into the flamboyant St Helens side. In his two years at St Helens, they finished as league leaders in 2005, and won the Challenge Cup and Super League in 2006. Anderson joined Warrington in 2007 and made 88 appearances scoring 31 tries, and played both of their Challenge Cup victories in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, Anderson joined Salford.
