Profile
New Zealand born Vince Mellars made his NRL debut at the impressive age of just 19 for New Zealand Warriors when they played Cronulla Sharks in the 13th round of the 2003 Telstra Premiership campaign. Mellars went on to spend two seasons at the Warriors before signing with Cronulla for the 2005 season. The centre scored a golden point try in a crucial match against Newcastle Knights, which Cronulla won 30-26.
In 2006 Mellars signed for Sydney Roosters and was played on the wing on his debut the round 6 game against Brisbane Broncos. His first try for the club came in the round 8 game against the North Queensland Cowboys. He stayed with the Roosters for the 2006 and 2007 season before moving onto a spell in rugby union.
In 2008 Mellars signed with New Zealand union side The Crusaders based in Canterbury, He was in the Crusaders wider training squad and played in the Air New Zealand Cup for Canterbury.
Mellars return to league came with a move to England and the Super League. Just a few weeks before the start of the 2010 Super League season, Mellars signed for Crusaders RLFC. Only fourteen days later, he made his debut in Super League XV against Leeds Rhinos where he put Gareth Raynor over the line for his first try for the Crusaders. He became the joint top try scorer for Crusaders during the 2010 season, along with Australian Rhys Hansbury, with 12 tries scored in 24 games for the Welsh club. He then went onto make another 24 appearances in 2011, scoring six tries.
Following the Crusaders entering administration in November 2010 and withdrawing their Super League application the following year, Mellars joined the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on a three year deal, starting in 2012.
