Mark Calderwood began his career at Milford ARLFC, signing for Leeds Rhinos Academy in 2000. He made his first-team debut in 2001. He established himself quickly as a first-team regular and in 2004 he became a Super League Grand Final winner. In 2005 Calderwood won the World Club Challenge with Leeds, but went on to lose both the Challenge Cup final and the Grand Final. He signed for Wigan Warriors from 2006 but his progress was restricted by injuries. Calderwood signed with Hull from 2009.
