Profile
Gareth Raynor began his rugby career with Pontefract RUFC before moving to rugby league with Castleford Panthers. He signed for Leeds Tykes, during which time he also played three games for Leeds Rhinos. In 2001 he signed for Hull and quickly became an important part of the Hull team. In 2002 he decided to try rugby union again and signed for Leicester Tigers, but he couldn’t settle at the club. In 2003 Raynor returned to Hull having bought out his own contract at Leicester. He appeared in Hull’s 2005 Challenge Cup final win against Leeds Rhinos and the 2006 Super League Grand Final defeat to St Helens. Raynor became a regular for Great Britain during this period. He was a try-scorer in Hull’s 2008 Challenge Cup final defeat by St Helens. He was forced to miss the 2008 World Cup to undergo operations on his foot and knee.
