Zeb Taia relishing Dragons’ trip to Den

Catalans Dragons star Zeb Taia has backed Wigan’s plans to play in London, insisting it can only be good for the sport.

Taia, who has notched 11 tries in 18 appearances in 2015, says he is looking forward to facing the Warriors at Milwall FC’s The Den on September 5.

“It’s great that we’re going to be part of something new when we play in London,” he said.

“London needs top level rugby to keep interest in rugby league in those kinds of areas.

“There are a lot of talented kids in London and there are London-born players playing all over Super League at the moment.

“There is obviously a lot of potential in the area and, if we can help build a big supporter base down there, it can only be a good thing for the game.

“It’s a place a little bit like ourselves in that we’re not in a typical rugby league area but it’s shown that, if there is interest there, there’s a lot of talent to be found; there’s a lot of French lads playing away from us in Super League now, for example.

“Hopefully the crowds turn up and we can make a success of the game and maybe make it an annual thing. It’s definitely something I’m excited to be involved with.”
