Brisbane officials say the serious injury suffered by winger Jharal Yow Yeh against South Sydney in Perth on Friday is not career threatening.

Yow Yeh suffered a broken ankle after landing akwardly while trying to catch a bomb during the first half of the Bronco’s 20-12 victory at NIB Stadium.

The Australia international was immediately taken to hospital and is expected to undergo surgery once he has been seen by a specialist.

A statement from the Broncos read: “No comment will be able to be made on the amount of time he will be out of the game until that consultation with the surgeon and the second procedure has taken place.

“However the injury is not deemed career threatening.

“Team management and the Broncos’ doctor stayed with Yow Yeh in Perth when the team flew back overnight.”
