Warrington have signed young back-rower Sam Wilde on a full time deal until November 2017.

Wilde, 19, is a product of the club’s academy having signed from Shevington Sharks, and has played for England at academy level.

Under 19s coach Lee Briers said: “I am absolutely delighted about Sam signing his first professional contract. It just goes to show that through hard work and dedication you can realise your dreams. Sam’s professionalism is second to none and I truly believe he will go a long way in his career. I think it’s great for the other academy boys too to see that there is a definite pathway at our club if you apply yourself in the right way.”

The second-row or loose forward featured in the pre-season friendlies against Toulouse and Hull KR.

Wilde added: “I’d like to thank everyone at the club for supporting me over the last five years while I came through the scholarship and academy systems. It is an honour to be a part of such a great club and I can’t wait to get started.”
