York take battle to Fev

Sam Smeaton (calf) is Featherstone Rovers’ biggest doubt after suffering an injury during the warm-up to last week’s win over Dewsbury.

Scrum-half Tom Hemingway is definitely missing for the next six weeks after scans revealed he had suffered a fractured jaw.

York City Knights coach Dave Woods is urging his side to show more concentration after last week’s 48-38 loss against Leigh.

Woods said: “We did some good work, made some good ground and controlled a lot of the rucks – but then we’d come up with a missed tackle and they’d score.

“We know we can score points. We’ve just got to keep them out at the other end.”

He added: “We have to just keep battling it out. If the boys keep shaping up and putting in 100 per cent, that’s all we can ask.”

Ben Jones returned to training on Tuesday night, and York coach Dave Woods will assess his fitness before finalising his squad to face Rovers. Woods confirmed that no York players had sustained injuries during the defeat against Leigh.
