York sign Huddersfield hooker on loan

York have signed Huddersfield hooker Reiss Butterworth on a one-month loan.

Butterworth, 21, joined the Giants from Bradford on a three-year deal in 2018, and has featured three times for the reserve side this season.

He is yet to make his Super League debut, and made 14 appearances for Batley in the Championship last season.

“I’m excited to get going at a good level in the Championship, it’s a good opportunity to get some experience under James Ford,” said Butterworth.

“Playing against men, and bigger bodies is going to be a key in my development. Hopefully I can use this chance to gain valuable experience going forward and I’m grateful to York for this opportunity.

Knights head coach James Ford added: “Reiss is a talented young player coming through an excellent system. He has plenty of strengths which will have a positive impact on our play.”
