York make double signing

York have signed forward duo Rory Dixon and Harvey Kear from Castleford.

Both players join on a one-year deal having helped the Tigers to the Academy Grand Final in 2017.

Coach James Ford said: “I’m pleased to bring two young props to the club who have massive potential. Both caught my attention after strong pre-season performances against a very physical Batley team, and I was impressed with some of their efforts last year in a strong Castleford academy.

“Both come highly recommended by the Tigers; specifically their Head of Youth Pete riding – a man I have plenty of respect for. I was keen to find out about their attitude towards hard work and learning and I’m looking forward to challenging them to kick on as players and as blokes.

“Obviously they’ve both got parts of their game they need to develop – but who hasn’t? I’m genuinely excited to start to work with these boys.

“Both lads are well above 6 foot and 105kg with potential to grow further. If they arrive at the Knights with a good attitude and ready to work hard, I’m confident they will make the step up and contribute positively to our team.”
