York have signed forward Dave Petersen for the 2019 season.

The 26-year-old started his career at Hull KR and has had spells with Workington Town, Oxford, Sheffield Eagles, Bradford Bulls and Batley Bulldogs, along with Mackay Cutters and Boston 13s.

Petersen has trained all pre-season with the Knights and impressed as a trialist in their Boxing Day friendly against Bradford Bulls, proving himself enough to earn a contract.

On signing Petersen, York coach James Ford said: “We’ve all been impressed with Dave’s attitude towards all aspects of our preparation.

“On Boxing Day, he demonstrated a very good work ethic, versatility to play in two key positions and a good level of skill.

“As Dave spends more time with us I’m sure his approach will see him develop further and make a positive impact on our performances.”
