York in kit gaffe

York fans who receive a City Knights away shirt for Christmas may have to return it straight away, after a spelling mistake was spotted on the kit.

The Championship club says that the kit manufacturer, Centurion, has accepted blame for the fault, which sees an error in the sponsor “Castle Furntiture” (sic).

The error was only spotted by a fan once the shirts had been printed and started being sold.

A club statement read: “It has come to our attention that there is a spelling mistake on the away replica shirts. We have spoken to the manufacturer today and they have accepted full responsibility.

“All away shirts will be replaced as you can understand this will not be done overnight. We hope that they will be ready in the new year. Until we can secure a delivery date with the supplier, please can you hang onto your away shirt till we know when we will get the new shirts.

“On behalf of York City Knights please accept our sincere apology on this matter and we wish you a Happy Christmas and New Year.”
