York City Knights confirm triple signings

York City Knights have significantly strengthened their squad ahead of the 2012 season with the signings of three players, including former Crusaders, Hull FC, Sydney Roosters and Leeds Rhinos player Jordan Tansey. Confirmation of the deals were announced at half time of the Knights opening pre-season friendly with Keighley Cougars earlier today (Sunday). 

The half back or fullback has penned a one year deal and will link up with his new team mates at Tuesdays training session. The 25 year old looks set to make his Knights debut against one of his former clubs the Leeds Rhinos next Sunday (15th January), 3pm kick off at the Huntington Stadium. Commenting on the signing Player Head Coach Chris Thorman said:

“We have been looking for an experienced half back for the past few months and we believe we have got a top player in Jordan. He has played more than 100 games in Superleague and also in the NRL and we are delighted to have him on board for 2012″.

The Knights are also delighted to confirm the signings of Warrington centre Ben Hellewell and prop Brooke Broughton on duel registrations until the end of the season. The duo will link up with the Knights on Tuesday and could also make their debuts in the Knights pre season friendly against Rhinos on Sunday. Commenting on the signings Knights Player Head Coach Chris Thorman said,

“I spent some time with Tony Smith and the Warrington club a couple of weeks ago and they are two highly rated players. I have seen DVD footage of both players and they will add quality and strength in depth to the squad”.

Thorman played under Wolves Head Coach Tony Smith during his time with the Huddersfield Giants and is happy that the level of coaching both players will receive whilst at the Knights will be high quality.
