York bring in Hull KR youngster Mikey Lewis on loan

York have signed young half-back Mikey Lewis on a one-month loan deal from Hull KR.

The 19-year-old has made 13 appearances for Hull KR since making his first team debut for the club in 2019. Lewis also enjoyed a spell on loan with Newcastle Thunder that year, scoring seven tries in as many games for the north east club.

York coach James Ford said: “Mikey is a talented young half, hooker or full-back who has a good level of competitiveness about him.

“If Mikey is willing to work hard at areas of his game, I can see him becoming a very good full-back or half in the future.”

Lewis, whose loan deal includes a two-week recall option for Hull KR, could make his York debut in Sunday’s trip to Widnes.

York trio Brendan O’Hagan, Kriss Brining and Tyme Dow-Nikau are all expected to return to full training within the next week or so.
