Yates named Championship One Player of Week
London Skolars scrum-half Danny Yates has been named Kingstone Press Championship One Player of the Week.
The halfback, on loan in London from Halifax, played a central role in the Skolars’ 42-38 victory over Hemel Stags.
His coach at London, Joe Mbu, is now set to speak to Halifax in an effort to keep Yates down south until the end of the season.
Mbu said: “Danny’s done very well since he’s been with us. He gets the team around, he gives us a bit of guidance and he’s really inspirational.
“His direction, and talking to the players, makes sure everyone gets to the right part of the pitch. He’s enjoying himself and seems to like London, so hopefully he can stay with us a bit longer.”
