Workington Town extend contracts of trio

Workington Town have secured the signings of three of their current players for 2013.

Elliot Miller, Karl Olstrom and Marc Shackley have all agreed new deals which will see them stay at Derwent Park for 2013 and beyond.

Miller he was happy to commit his future to a side who are likely to be playing in the Championship next season.

He said: “I love playing here, they are a great bunch of lads and there’s a real team spirit and I’m really enjoying my rugby. I just want to concentrate on getting promotion for our supporters and the club.”

Town coach Gary Charlton was also pleased to see Olstrom and Shackley commit the next two years of their careers to the club, and had noting but praise for his players.

He said: “Karl fits in perfectly with our strategy of developing a real nucleus of the best local players, his training and commitment to the game are outstanding and he is now developing into a valuable member of the squad. Importantly he also enjoys his rugby with us and works well with his teammates and for a young player that’s important.

“Marc’s trademark is his strength and ability to break through the tackle. His attacking skills, along with a turn of speed have been a major contributory factor to our success this season. Marc is still keen to learn and improve and its fantastic that he has committed to the club for another two years.”
