Workington Town have confirmed the signing of England international Mark Calderwood.

Calderwood, 30, has an impressive CV having previously played for Leeds, Wigan, Hull and Harlequins and racking up 230 Super League appearances in a career which has seen the winger score 129 tries in top flight rugby league.

Town Director Tony Boyd had his say on the signing: “It’s not every day that a player of Mark’s calibre becomes available. When we were alerted to his availability we moved quickly to secure his signature as we feel he will provide the experience and cutting edge finishing which we will need as we move closer to the business end of this all important season”.

The Championship 1 side will be looking for Calderwood to bring some of his knowledge and experience into their battle to get out of the third tier of rugby league, where they currently sit second two points behind leaders Doncaster.
