Workington release Forber and three others

Workington have released top points scorer Carl Forber and three others after a disappointing start to the season.

Town have won just one game all season and find themselves in 8th place in Championship 1 following last week’s loss at home to London Skolars.

The club have also released Tommy Brindle, Mark Hobson and Stephen Roper.

Chairman Dave Bowden said “It is clear that the plans we had at the start of the season have not worked and that is evident from recent performances on the pitch. Therefore in testing times financially this move is in the best interests of both the club and the players. We wish them all the best for the future.

“The club have already moved to bring in Brett Carter from Barrow along with Marc Shackley and Marc Bainbridge from Whitehaven and are targeting other players to strengthen the squad.”
