Workington bring in Wigan academy product

Workington have signed former Wigan full-back Gabe Fell for the 2020 season.

Fell came through the ranks at Wigan but didn’t make a first-team appearance for the Warriors.

The full-back, who can also play on the wing or at half-back, played 12 games for Town on loan during the 2017 season.

Workington coach Chris Thorman said: “I’ve known of Gabe for a good few years now.

“He’s a product of Wigan’s academy system and played in the same side as Caine Barnes and Dec O’Donnell.

“Full-back is probably the position he’s known for but he’s equally at home on the wing or in the halves and he provides a great deal of utility value.

“I’m excited to start working with him during pre-season and seeing how well he links up with the rest of the playing group.”

Fell added: “I am very grateful for the opportunity that has been offered to me by Workington Town.

“After speaking to Chris and hearing his aspirations for the club – it was a no-brainer for me.”
