Wolves face “toughest ever” ClubCall

Warrington will choose their play-off semi-final opponents live on Sky Sports News on Sunday at noon.

ClubCall allows the highest ranked winners from the opening week of the play-offs to choose who they play in their next match for the right to grace the Grand Final on Saturday October 5 (6.00pm).

Following Huddersfield’s defeat to Wigan on Thursday, Warrington’s 40-20 win over Leeds earned them that right.

RFL chief executive Nigel Wood said: “I would like to congratulate all the clubs who have progressed to the second week of what has all the makings of the most intriguing Super League play-off series we have ever witnessed.

“Warrington and Wigan merit special mention, the Wolves for what I’m sure will be a deeply satisfactory win against the defending champions, and the Warriors for toppling the 2013 League Leaders.

“Both clubs have a hard-earned weekend off and it now falls to Warrington to choose who they play in two weeks’ time. In many ways this is going to be the toughest decision in the history of ClubCall.”

Warrington will choose from the winners of this week’s preliminary semi-finals, Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC on Thursday September 19 and Leeds Rhinos v St Helens on Friday September 20.

In the last two seasons, Leeds have gone on to win the Grand Final after themselves being picked in the ClubCall selection.

This week’s Super League preliminary semi-finals schedule is as follows:

Thursday September 19: Huddersfield Giants v Hull FC (8.00pm) – winners to ClubCall, losers eliminated

Friday September 20: Leeds Rhinos v St Helens (8.00pm) – winners to ClubCall, losers eliminated

Sunday September 22: Super League ClubCall (12.00).

The schedule for Week 3 of the 2013 Super League play-offs is:

Thursday September 26: Warrington Wolves v ClubCalled preliminary semi-final winner (8.00pm) – winners to Grand Final, losers eliminated

Friday September 27: Wigan Warriors v Non-ClubCalled preliminary semi-final winner (8.00pm) – winners to Grand Final, losers eliminated

All four play-offs will be televised live on Sky Sports, who will also screen in full the 2013 Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Saturday October 5.
