Wolves deny stadium rumours

Warrington have denied rumours they will have to open up their Super League XII campaign by playing "home" games at the Halton Stadium in Widnes.

The pitch at the Halliwell Jones Stadium is currently being re-laid due to drainage problems which have plagued it since the stadium's opening just 3 years ago.

But various delays have led to rumours that the Wolves would have to use neighbours Widnes' ground to play their opening 3 Super League home games.

Wolves media officer Gina Goldrick was quick to refute these rumours.

"Warrington Wolves are denying all rumours regarding the pitch not being ready and playing at Widnes.

"The first roll of turf has been laid this morning in preparation and our first home game will be the 18th February at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as originally planned."

The Wolves open up their Super League XII campaign away at Wigan Warriors, before facing Bradford Bulls in Round 2 on February 18th.
