Winterstein out for season

A pectoral injury suffered by North Queensland centre Antonio Winterstein will sideline him for the rest of the season, the club have said.

Winterstein suffered the injury early the in the second half of Saturday’s 24-4 defeat to Manly after attempting to tackle Steve Matai.

Scans on the injury today revealed that Winterstein has suffered a complete tear of the muscle and will require surgery.

Former Brisbane player Winterstein joins Brent Tate, Willie Tonga, Shannon Gallant and Michael Bani on Cowboys’ the injured list

It is hoped that Tate (knee) and Tonga (shoulder) will be back in round 18, while Gallant recently underwent groin injury which will sideline him for several weeks.

Bani is on the comeback trail from an ankle injury and will resume training with the NRL squad soon.
