Williams pledges future to Manly

Powerhouse Manly forward Tony ‘T-Rex’ Williams has given a much-needed boost to the Brookvale club by signing a two year deal.

Williams, who was instrumental in the Sea Eagles’ premiership triumph, will remain with the club until the end of 2013.

And the 22-year-old former Parramatta second-rower is glad his immediate future has been sorted.

“We are a really close knit family here at the Sea Eagles. I always wanted to stay and I’m enjoying my footy here and want to stay as long as I can,” Williams said.

The news is a shot in the arm for Manly, who will lose double premiership winning coach Des Hasler to Canterbury after next year.

“It’s great news for the club to secure a quality young player like Tony for two more seasons. He’s taken his game to another level this year and we’re confident he’ll continue to develop under the great coaching staff here at Manly,” Manly Chief Operating Officer David Perry said.

Williams will be a key member of Australia‘s Four Nations campaign after winning a place in the Kangaroos squad.
