Leigh have signed Wakefield prop Oliver Wilkes on a one-year deal.

Wilkes, 32, previously played for the Centurions between 2003 and 2005, and returns to the Championship after six years in Super League with Wakefield and Harlequins.

He said: “I’m very excited about my move back to Leigh. I’ve kept an eye on developments at the club for a few months now and it’s clear there is real ambition and the set-up at the club is first class.”

Wilkes made his final appearance for the Wildcats in the 36-32 win over Castleford on Sunday.

The much-travelled Cumbrian has also played for Sheffield, Huddersfield, Keighley, Whitehaven, Wigan and Widnes.
