Featherstone hooker Matty Wildie has been ruled out for the rest of the 2016 campaign with an ACL injury.

Widlie sustained the injury in the pre-season 32-16 friendly victory against Leeds Rhinos.

Rovers coach Jon Sharp said the loss of Wildie is a devastating blow.

“Unfortunately we received a blow in mid-week that Matty has a an ACL injury which will rule him out for the remainder of the season,” he said.

“It’s a devastating blow for the club and the player who has been working hard since he arrived at the club.

“A lot of our recruitment and plans were centred around Matty at 9, so it’s a case of back to the drawing board for us in that respect and we are on the lookout for a solution to this pivotal role in the team.”
