Wakefield have been boosted by the news that hooker Terry Newton did not suffer serious injury in Saturday’s win over Harlequins.

Newton was taken off with an arm injury during the 18-10 victory, which was his debut for the Wildcats.

Wildcats Head Coach John Kear said: “The scan has shown that Terry’s injury is not serious.

“He has a good chance of being fit in time to play Catalans Dragons in our opening Engage Super League XV home game at the Hearwell Stadium on Sunday.

“And he will certainly be fit in time to play against Leeds Rhinos the following Sunday.”
