Wigan rack up their biggest win of Super League era
Wigan recorded their biggest win of the Super League era against Hull KR, but coach Shaun Wane was still disappointed they let in a try.
The Warriors ran in 15 tries, with Pat Richards claiming a personal haul of 28 points, against Craig Sandercock’s sorry Rovers side, who were without key half-backs Michael Dobson and Travis Burns.
Wane said: “I was pleased with our attack but I didn’t know this was a record score. It was a great win and we scored some great tries.
“I’m disappointed to concede the six points. I don’t mean to sound arrogant but I was gutted we didn’t concentrate for their try.”
Wigan’s previous best in 17 years of Super League was a 78-4 triumph over Workington in 1996.
They did rack up a 106-8 victory in 2008 against Whitehaven in the Challenge Cup, with debutant Sam Tomkins scoring five tries.
