Wigan offer support to Leigh

Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan has pledged to help local neighbours Leigh following their relegation to Championship 1.

The Warriors are set to loan an as yet unconfirmed number of players to the Centurions.

Lenagan said: “We feel sorry for Leigh. We’re very disappointed for them. The sooner they are back in the Championship the better, and if we can help them we will.

“I know there are some Wigan fanatics who view Leigh negatively.

“But the more strong teams from the North West we have, the better.”

Leigh, who will be coached by former Wigan boss Ian Millward next season, were relegated on Sunday despite a crushing victory over Whitehaven and the fact they finished above relegation-exempt Toulouse.
