Wigan make approach to sign George Burgess – reports

Wigan have made an attempt to sign England international George Burgess for 2020.

The 27-year-old prop will leave South Sydney Rabbitohs at the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

Burgess – who has made 148 appearances for the Rabbitohs since making his first-grade in 2012 – is set to join the Warriors on a three-year deal, according to The Sydney Morning Herald and Brisbane Times.

Wigan coach Adrian Lam told Wigan Today: “It’s quite obvious we’re short in the middles and like, I’m sure, every other Super League club, we’ve shown interest in him and contacted his manager.

“I’m not sure where it’s at, hopefully we could get him over to Super League but I don’t know where we sit.

“But we do need a middle player.”
