Wigan Warriors have confirmed that Sam Tomkins will be re-joining the club for the 2016 season.

Club chairman Ian Lenagan has revealed that they paid £200,000 in transfer fee to bring him back to Wigan.

Tomkins has signed a four-year contract.

“We’re absolutely delighted, he’s a special player,” Lenagan told Sky Sports.

“And to have him back in Super League is great.

“I think he realises that Wigan is a special club. It’s obviouly a club he’s been with a for a long time.

“He’s enjoyed his time in New Zealand. The Warriors have done well by him.

“But because he wanted to come back and play with his brothers.

“Joel coming back is significant, and Logan playing as well.

“But I think there’s something special about playing for Wigan if you’re a Wiganer, and that’s what Sam is.”
