Wigan announce trio of signings

Wigan have today completed the close season signings of Thomas Leuluai, Michael Withers and Shane Millard.

Leuluai joins on a three year deal (2007, 2008 and 2009) while both Withers and Millard have signed for two years (2007 and 2008).

Head Coach Brian Noble, speaking from Sydney on the eve of his return to the UK said,

"The three signings bring a nice blend of youth and experience. Thomas already has experience of Super League having played for Harlequins RL and he should be an excellent partner for Trent Barrett. He is only young at 21 years of age and will hopefully be set for a long and successful career at Wigan. Shane and Michael will bring terrific experience to our young side."

Speaking about the news, Thomas Leuluai said,

"Wigan is a famous club in New Zealand and there has been a long and famous association between Wigan and some great Kiwi players. I am really looking forward to forging a long career with Wigan."

The 21 year old Kiwi International joins Wigan after two seasons with the Harlequins club. Thomas is the son of former Kiwi and Hull star James Leuluai and is the second youngest Kiwi test player of all time having first represented his country at the age of 18 years and 118 days.

Versatile back Michael Withers joins Wigan after appearing in 170 games and scoring 108 tries from Bradford Bulls.

Speaking about the move Withers said,

"It's always special for any rugby league player to sign for Wigan and I am looking forward to joining up with Brian Noble again."

Hooker Shane Millard completes the line up and added,

"I have played against Wigan many times in the past and it will be nice to finally don the famous cherry & white colours.  I am really looking forward to it."

Leuluai will arrive over the next couple of weeks at the club while Withers and Millard will join for pre-season training in the New Year.
