Darrell Goulding’s 73rd-minute try gave Wigan Warriors a 24-22 win over the Catalans Dragons at the JJB Stadium.

Goulding was making his return from a loan spell at Salford City Reds due to the numbers of injuries at Wigan.

The French side had led 12-8 at the half-time interval and 22-14 on the hour mark but could not seal the win.

Thomas Leuluai was involved in Wigan’s opening tries, sending first George Carmont and then Pat Richards over the line, Richards converting his own try.

Steven Bell replied for the Dragons with Thomas Bosc adding the two points, and the visitors took the lead in the closing moments of the half, Bosc converting a try from Olivier Elima

Amos Roberts crossed to give Wigan a two-point advantage once again, but the Catalans established a lead through Jean-Philippe Baile and Dimitri Pelo, Bosc converting the former.

However, Pat Richards took advantage of a gap in the Dragons defence to score, converting himself, before Goulding’s late try edged Wigan into the lead.
