Widnes winger signs two-year deal
Widnes winger Paddy Flynn has become the tenth player to sign a new deal with the Vikings.
Flynn, 26, has been at the Select Security Stadium since 2008, and has penned a two-year deal to extend his stay, having scored 66 tries in 119 appearances.
He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract and now I want to look forward to digging deep with the rest of the players and building on the good progress we are making in the league and cup.
“I’ve been here a long time but hopefully there’s more tries, more appearances and certainly more wins from the team to come. That only happens when you are playing well and I think I am making improvement as a player but I’m not the finished article – there’s more to come from me and I’m glad it’s going to be here at Widnes.”
Flynn spent some time on dual-registration with Workington last season, and returned a better player as a result.
Coach Denis Betts said: “The reason why you keep someone like Paddy is quite simple as his progression out the Championship to playing Super League for the last few years has been impressive and there’s so much more to come from him on the Vikings wing.
“He’s got a better understanding about himself and his position. He now knows about the work that is needed to maintain the levels of performance that’s required for Super League.
“He’s a great kid to have around the place, he’s been on a long journey with us and he’s worked hard to be here. There’s been a lot of expectation on Paddy’s shoulders and there’s a lot of quality in him.”
