Widnes full-back Olly Ashall-Bott has suffered a knee injury which will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Ashall-Bott left the field in the Vikings’ defeat to Salford Red Devils in The Qualifiers on Saturday and didn’t return.

Scans following the game have revealed that he suffered a moderate MCL injury and that will put him on the treatment table for the rest of 2018.

On his season-ending injury, Ashall-Bott said: “I’m obviously gutted to get this injury, at a time where I feel I was getting better every game.

“It shouldn’t be too long until I’ll be able to run and participate in full training again, but unfortunately it looks like I’ll just miss being back out on the field for the rest of this season.

“I will be working as hard as possible now to fully recover and get back as quick as I can. In the meantime, I will be doing everything to help support the lads on the field in any way that I can.

“It’s a critical point in the season for us, with Toulouse up next, and we all need to stick together as a club for the remainder of The Qualifiers.”

Ashall-Bott has already started his rehabilitation and will look to return to the field next season.
