Widnes sign Tyrer on loan

Widnes have signed St Helens centre Steve Tyrer on a month’s loan.

Tyrer, 20, scored eight tries and 37 goals in 10 appearances for the Vikings during a loan spell last season.

He has been on loan at Celtic Crusaders this season but has struggled to get first team action.

He goes straight in to the Widnes team for their clash with Barrow on Friday night.

Tyrer is joined in the squad by former St Helens team mate Steve Bannister, who is yet to make his Widnes debut following a broken leg.
