Widnes sign Brad Holroyd for 2022

Widnes have announced the signing of Brad Holroyd from Workington for the 2022 Championship season.

Brad Holroyd, 21, scored in Workington’s 36-12 League 1 Grand Final victory over Doncaster, and was nominated for the league’s Young Player of the Year award for 2021.

Brad played at Crosfields and St Helens’ academy as a teenager. He also represented his country at under-19 level with England Lions.

The versatile back also spent time with Leigh Centurions and Rochdale Hornets before moving to Workington last year.

Holroyd scored 18 tries for the Cumbrian side last year. This included a notable hat-trick against London Skolars last season and finished the season as the third-highest try scorer in League 1.

On signing for 2022, Brad said: “I’m made up to have signed for such a big club. I can’t wait to meet up with the lads and get started.”

Vikings recruits

The club also recently confirmed the signing of Aaron Brown on a one-year deal, who makes the switch from Sheffield. He scored 17 tries and 68 points over 59 appearances for the Eagles prior to joining the Vikings for next year.

He joins the likes of Ollie Brookes, Will Tilleke, Joe Lyons, Matty Smith and Levy Nzoungou to be signed up with the Vikings for 2022.
