Widnes replace Clarke with Baron

Widnes have moved to replace departing head of strength and conditioning Jon Clarke with the experienced Chris Baron.

Baron, who was previously at Warrington, has spent time with Sydney Roosters this season and has also worked for England rugby league and Leicester Tigers.

He said: “I am really excited about starting work with the Vikings. I think the Club is a sleeping giant with massive potential.

“There is a good vibe about the place and everyone I speak to agrees the staff and players are really hard working.

“When I got the first phone call from Denis Betts about working with the team I felt humbled.

“The Club is going in the right direction and I want to be at the Vikings when, not if, the success comes.”
