Forward Danny Tickle has left the Widnes Vikings by mutual agreement.

Tickle has not played a game in 2016 after being seriously assaulted late last year.

Widnes Vikings and Danny Tickle have mutually agreed an immediate release from the player’s 2016 playing contract,” Widnes said in a official statement.

“Former England second-row Tickle,  joined the Vikings in 2014 and made 45 appearances scoring 248 points in Widnes colours, many of which came from his famous left boot, accumulating 118 successful conversions for the club.

“Danny has played an important part in the transition of Widnes Vikings during our formative Super League years and everybody involved with the Club wish Danny and his family the very best of luck for the future.”

Tickle debuted for Haifax in 2000 and also played for Wigan, Hull and the Vikings. The second-rower made a total of 391 appearances and one game for England in 2009.
