Widnes coach Denis Betts says every game is now turning into a cup final for the Vikings after they fell to Hull KR 24-10.

Widnes have now lost seven games straight in Super League, dropping from the top of the table to eighth place.

“We need a win,” Betts admitted after the game.

“It doesn’t have to even be a good win, it just needs to be a win at the moment.

“Every week now turns into a cup final for us. We’ve got to get moving again, we’ve got to get winning. We’re going to put ourselves in a really tough position unless we do.”

Betts rued his team not taking their chances presented to them to win the match against the Robins.

“We’re lacking a bit of killer instinct with the ball,” he said.

“We did some real good stuff today. We lacked a little bit composure ourselves.

“I thought Albert Kelly was the difference today. He was outstanding.

“I’m disappointed with the score, I’m disappointed with losing the game. I feel for the players because there was a massive amount of effort there defensively.”

The Vikings take on Salford this Saturday at Magic Weekend.
