Widnes edge Wigan

Widnes have defeated Wigan 6-8 thanks to heroice defence and a Corey Thompson double.

Thompson scored two tries while Liam Farrell crossed for the home team.

Widnes had a 20-8 penalty count against them and had two players sin-binned but still managed to keep Wigan out.

With the Vikings out of the running for the top four, the loss was a blow to the Warriors Old Trafford aspirations.
