Widders becomes a Tiger

Castleford Tigers have completed the signing of Dean Widders from South Sydney Rabbitohs on a three-year deal. nnWidders, a back row forward, will join the club in 2009. nnThe 28-year-old made his NRL debut in 2000 with the Sydney Roosters, before switching to Parramatta two years later. He spent five seasons with the Eels before a move to the Rabbitohs. nnCastleford coach Terry Matterson said: “Dean is a great capture for the club.nn”He has played regularly at the top level for eight seasons and I’m sure that his style of play will be a big plus for us and he will be a big favourite with the fans.nn”He is a good character and a really creative strong running back rower with plenty of pace, a good step and he is a proven line breaker.nn”And although we are bringing him in as a back rower, Dean has also played at centre or five-eighth so he offers us some additional versatility in other positions.”nnWidders will be joined by St George Illawarra half-back Rangi Chase for the 2009 season, who csigned for the club earlier this month.
