Whitehaven sign PNG pair

Whitehaven have signed Papua New Guinea internationals Jessie Joe Parker and Glen Nami.

Parker, 26, is no stranger to Championship fans, having starred for Featherstone in 2010 before signing a Super League deal with Wakefield, although family issues prevented him from taking up that deal. During his time at the Bigfellas Stadium, Parker scored 17 tries in 14 appearances.

Stand-off Nami, 25, scored a try for PNG in their Four Nations defeat to New Zealand in 2010, and has three caps for his country.

The Championship 1 club are still waiting for visas for the pair, although with both being full internationals, they are hoping to avoid the same problems faced when trying to sign fellow PNG star Joe Bond, who was refused a work permit last month.
