Whitehaven have signed former Leigh forward Andy Thornley.

The 32-year-old back-rower came through the ranks at Wigan and has made more than 200 career appearances for Whitehaven, Swinton and Leigh.

Thornley will link up with Whitehaven ahead of the 2021 Championship campaign.

Whitehaven coach Gary Charlton said: “We are pleased to have Andy on board, he is a Championship standard player with plenty of experience.

“We have lost a couple of back-row forwards for a few weeks and we feel Andy will keep up the competition for places in that position.

“We look forward to seeing what Andy brings to this team.”
