A Nigerian rugby league club is re-branding to Lagos Haven in a partnership with Cumbrian League One side Whitehaven.

Former Whitehaven winger Ade Adebisi is one of the driving forces behind the growth of the game in the African country and has facilitated the partnership.

A Whitehaven club statement said: “This is a club already playing RL in Nigeria, formerly under the name Lagos Marinas. The club are firmly behind the expansion of rugby league all over the world and are excited to be affiliated with Lagos Haven.

“Haven wish to extend our gratitude to former player Ade Adebisi, for bringing this opportunity to the club and we were honoured to accept.”
