Whitehaven out of special measures

Whitehaven have confirmed that they are now out of special measures placed on them by the RFL.

The Cumbrians were facing an uncertain future when they revealed a hole in their finances earlier in the year and a planned takeover fell through.

A statement said: “Whitehaven RLFC would like to announce that the club working closely with the RFL have successfully managed to come out of Special Measures.

“This is obviously a big step forward towards putting together a competitive team for the coming season and beyond.

“The club wish to thank Rob Graham and his team at the RFL for their help and assistance which has been greatly appreciated.

“Gary Charlton and his coaching team can now finalise additional signings and some exciting news on this front in expected as early as next week.”
