Whitehaven coach Dave Woods has moved to sign one of his former players in the shape of full-back Neil Thorman.
Thorman, 28, played under Woods at Gateshead when they won the National League 2 title in 2008.
He was looking for a move closer to his Newcastle roots, having spent the last couple of seasons at London Skolars.
Thorman said: “Dave got us promoted at Gateshead, and it will be exciting to work with him again.
“No disrespect to any of the clubs I’ve played for in the past, but they were all ‘new’ clubs, whereas Whitehaven have a bit of history and a good, solid fan base.”
Thorman scored four tries in 22 appearances for Skolars in 2012.
